Dating Michael, I have had the joy of realizing my true Allio potential in that I can watch a movie and be ready for round two before the credits have finished. These past couple of weeks, I have seen some amazing films and just when I thought I saw the best one of the year, the next usurps it! Here are my faves:
Precious- saw this on Saturday. The story is one that everyone should see and shows both the successes and failures of government interaction with the impoverished of this country. I give major props to my mother for counseling pregnant teenagers after seeing this movie and also, will never look at Monique the same way.
Up in the Air- I may be slightly biased as I love George Clooney but this movie really made me reflect on the choices I have made in my life in terms of love, career, family, etc. George definitely should not have won best actor as he really was just playing his usual sexy self, but the ensemble cast does a wonderful job of interacting and you think that all of them have known each other for years.
Shutter Island- Scared the crud out of me. Whoever says they weren't on the edge of their seats are lying! Leonardo and Martin do another stunning film and I can't wait to see the next. Don't let anyone tell you anything about this film in case they manage to spoil it!

Favorite Cities: skylines
Detroit vs. Chicago: It is crazy to think they are both on the water and had the same basic Midwest opportunities. Alas for the automotive industry...

P.S. For those of you who want to know where I work, I am the white building with the antennas to the right of the Sears Tower. They look a bit far apart but they are actually kitty corner! I am on the 34th floor in a corner office area thanks to my successful bosses and look out right over the lake. My building is where Richie Rich was filmed... and although it looks like it is half the size of the Sears Tower it is still 60 floors.

Favorite People: Happy Birthday Cristian!
Happy birthday to Cristian! I cannot believe how much the Zigich baby has grown up!! I am very excited because Mike and I are going to go home in two weekends (one week!) and see my family and friends. I love to go home and see everyone to catch up. I love Chicago, but the one thing that I miss more than ever is my family. I would love to attend every celebration and be there for them at a moment's notice should they need anything. It was be awesome if Detroit was like Chicago with the many things there are to do, the businesses and the amazing bars/restaurants. Maybe one day.......

Favorite Holiday: Saint Patty's Day
One of my favorite days of the year is Saint Patty's Day and this year did not disappoint. We had many visitors at Michael's place including CJ and Amy (our friends from LUC who live in Saint Louis), Brynn and Popa (Mike's sister and boyfriend), Dan and Kim (Mike's best friend from high school and his wife), Sara and Dave (other friends), and Seth and Heather (and more friends). There were a lot!!! We laid low on Friday and watched Michigan State and Notre Dame lose in their respective tournaments. On Saturday, Popa started off the fun at 5:30 am with a Jack and coke. I did not wake up until 7:30 am to shower and ready myself for the day, but by ten am the festivities were in full swing.
We hung out at Mike's and then went to Paddy Long's. After a long day of flip(py) cup, beer pong, sugar cookies, green beer, biscuits, and CJ, we were off to bed. I hope that I never miss a Saint Patty's Day ever again. I don't know why I ever missed this day in the past as it truly is such a blast. For anyone who has not attended this Chicago event, you must make a trip at least once.

no blogging
My coworker was out of the office for a little over two weeks during which time I realized how much she truly does on the job. I never thought that I would ever be a person who would let stress get to her, but I was wrong! I actually worked out for five days in a row after my ten+ hours just because I needed to get some relief! Anyways, she is back and I am again back to my normal seven to 4:30/5 workday!
Tonight I had dodgeball. I actually am somewhat of a random member since basically all of the people on my team work at either the Dugout or Trader Todd's, two bars that are in the Lakeview area. My coworker who lives a few houses down from me and who I sometimes ride the 4:30 train with was looking for some girls so I thought what the heck, and joined! So two weeks into it I must say that this is nothing like grade school dodgeball. Tonight I was hit by one of my own players in the back of the head as he was trying to "throw it over me" and a girl on my team (a six-foot monster) actually ripped the ball out of hands so that she could throw it. The guys are all trying to relive their glory days of some high school sport and most of the girls are just there to flirt with someone that they like. All in all, it calls for a very interesting time. I am quite the competitive one though so there is no messing around when I play!
I am off to bed! I must rest up for the big Saint Patty's Day celebrations! Tomorrow I am going to make green rice krispie treats. This is the best holiday.

Favorite of Chicago: (missed) skating rink at wrigley
I missed my moment to go skating at Wrigley! So sad. It opened up right after Christmas when Julia and my mom were here and I promised myself I would go, but to no avail. I think this is turning into the winter of would've's because I also had wanted to build a snowman.
Ask Mike, Brynn or Popa about when I went back to Ohio because I was dead set on each day going out there to see if it was good enough packing snow! Now, the rink closed yesterday, February 28th, and won't be open for another year.
There have been many things I have been able to do this winter though and for that I am grateful. I finally had dinner the other night at Smith and Wollensky with Mike (staff and food was awful but the view and my date were amazing!). I have been wanting to go there as I love steak and have now had dinners and almost all of the food steakhouses in Chicago. Supposedly, S & W was "the" place to go as it is right on the river and the food is excellent. However, I was unimpressed. They sat us in this cool corner right on the water, but then because it was in the corner, our waitress..who was a bit overweight...could not manage to squeeze through the tables to get to us. Needless to say, this caused a bit of an issue. Overall, I do not recommend as it is the same price as Joe's or Ruth Chris' and both of those are top notch.
